Some Queries and My Answers...

Received the following topics, supposedly meant for GDs from one of our students requesting for some guidance. Found them to be quite interesting ones and hence is this post. The queries are hers and the responses are mine...
1. Academic dishonesty the first step in corruption
That's one of the areas where corruption is prevalent...It is not THE FIRST STEP... Academic dishonesty is made necessary by the surrounding system and parents feel succumbed to it. Willingly or otherwise they start being a part of promoting the corruption and the child does not realize this till a certain age...but by the time the child realizes that he/she is a part of corruption, without their knowledge, it is high time...and from there, they continue to become an active part of corruption from there on...in their personal, professional, social and legal life...
2. Should academic freedom be permitted in our higher education?
It should be permitted from the student's point of view...but it CANNOT BE PERMITTED from the government's point of view. What I mean is...if academic freedom is permitted, almost everyone wants to pursue only those courses that are sure to get them job assurance....the consequence is....a SOCIETY WITH NO POETS, NO WRITERS, NO PAINTERS, and very probably NO TEACHERS!!! Can you imagine that?
3. Indian education reforms: one leap forward or two steps backward??
It is neither. They are suffering from lack of a co-ordinated action...from all the parties concerned.
4. Endangered species: who is responsible to protect them ?
What is the problem? Our generation is able to survive without dinosaurs....and the future generations can easily survive without tigers...The so-called food-chain has lost its ability to impact on human being's life...
The flip side of the coin is....if we want to be sentimental about most of the animals we are killing indiscriminately, we, the people, have to be responsible for that.
5. Should the media be censored?
An EMPHATIC NO...But...Yellow Journalism, Extortionist Journalism and Temptation to Over-sensationalize everything SHOULD BE CENSORED. Transparency in everything can be achieved only when the media is allowed to talk about everything...without the diseases mentioned above...
6. Is history a valid tool to plan the future?
It depends on which episodes of the history you would like to pick...The Episode of French Revolution can help us plan the future...but not the Love Story behind the Taj Mahal...
7. Do we lack foresight in planning our cities?
WE DO LACK FORESIGHT IN PLANNING OUR CITIES...
8. Academic pressure : too much to handle
I believe that there are only ACADEMIC DEMANDS...NOT ACADEMIC PRESSURES...If any student calls them to be PRESSURES...it DOES ONLY MEAN that that given student is NOT CURIOUS...And...CURIOSITY IS THE ONLY THING THAT HAS BROUGHT THIS WORLD TO WHERE IT IS...though, with SOME UNWANTED THINGS.
9. Was climate change the cause of the irregular monsoon in India?
I am not that conversant with this issue. It's more technical than I can handle spontaneously...
10. Is our nation prepared to handle national disasters? NOOOOOOO.... 11. Why do we use cellphones while driving even though it is banned?
LACK OF SELF-RESPONSIBILITY...SOCIAL INEPTITUDE....THINKING...BELIEVING AND, WORSE, PRACTISING THAT ONE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ONE REALLY IS TO THE SOCIETY...UNREALIZED SUICIDAL TENDENCY....
12. Should newspapers be expected to reveal their resources?
AN EMPHATIC YES....By not doing so....what they are doing is that they are preventing the society from becoming transparent and encashing it to their benefit.
13. Should public servants have the right to strike? YES....BUT AT LOSS OF PAY... 14. Should tobacco companies be held responsible for smoking related diseases?
AN EMPHATIC NO. IT'S THE SMOKERS AND SMOKERS ALONE THAT SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR SMOKING RELATED DISEASES.
15. The negative impact of television on children It's mostly due to the nincompoop parents... 16. Is reform necessary in judicial nominations?
It's not the reform that is necessary...it is BEING UNBIASED IN NOMINATING that is A DIRE NECESSITY.
17. Is censorship needed in the entertainment industry?
Yes...if the Censor Board and the Government that sets it up REALLY KNOWS HOW THE SOCIETY SHOULD BE....And, that is not the case now anywhere in the world....Therefore...it is a futile one...Read 1984 by George Orwell for more clarification.
18. Should copyright violations by students be penalized? Why students alone? Anyone who violates a copyright SHOULD BE PENALIZED. 19. Do trade unions have a relevance in the current corporate world?
If only they operate the way they HAVE TO AND OUGHT TO operate... Marx and Mao are a part of history; Indian communist leaders are an unnecessary mystery...Trade unions are a necessary headache, as of now.
20. Global warming : a need for change A VERY EMPHATIC YES... Sphere: Related Content
